Guidelines for Success - Working with Remote or Hybrid Work Arrangements at AHC

Welcome to the Allan Hancock College IT Knowledge Base. This article is designed to guide our faculty and staff through the essential equipment, software, and procedures required for effective and efficient remote work. Understanding these requirements ensures that our team remains connected and productive, regardless of their physical location.

Equipment Requirements

For Full-Time Employees:

  • Each full-time employee at Allan Hancock College is entitled to a single computing device that fully addresses their professional needs. This device is intended to serve as a complete solution, facilitating both on-campus and remote work.

For Part-Time Employees:

  • Part-time employees who require computing devices for their roles can request loans from the Help Desk or using the Request Computers or Equipment form at ithelp.hancockcollege.edu. This ensures equitable access to technology, enabling all members of our team to perform their duties effectively.

Remote Work Capability:

  • Employees whose roles include the possibility of remote work will be provided with a laptop. This includes necessary peripherals and a docking station for office use. Desktop computers are allocated primarily for roles that are strictly in-person or require specific software solutions not feasible on a laptop.

Transitioning to Remote Work:

  • If you currently use a desktop tower and need to transition to remote work, please complete the form at Request Computers or Equipment. Indicate your need for remote work and select any desired peripherals. A docking station will be needed to connect your laptop to multiple monitors, a USB keyboard, and other necessary peripherals.

Software and Access

VPN Access:

  • For roles involving Banner/Argos/Xtender or similar on-campus-only resources, GlobalProtect VPN is essential for remote access. Requests for VPN access can be made at VPN Access Request.
