Introduction to OneDrive
OneDrive, Microsoft's premier cloud storage service, plays a vital role in the digital toolkit of Allan Hancock College. It offers a secure and efficient way to store, share, and collaborate on documents and files. With its seamless integration into the Microsoft ecosystem, OneDrive simplifies access to your work from anywhere, enhancing productivity and collaboration.
Signing into OneDrive
On AHC Managed Devices:
- OneDrive is pre-installed on all AHC managed devices. Faculty and employees primarily use the OneDrive desktop application for their work-related storage and collaboration needs. To sign in, simply open the OneDrive application and log in with your AHC credentials.
(Launched using cloud icon from system tray)
(Launched locally from Windows)
(After sign in)
(Choose start backup)
(Next to the finish - Mobile install optional)
(You can then open your OneDrive folder to view files. At the Help Desk, we recommend that most folks use OneDrive to keep their data consistent across devices, however to consider anything backed up to OneDrive to be stored "somewhere else" through onedrive.com. When accessing your files from public or other devices, make sure to sign out of onedrive.com after retrieving any necessary files.)
Online Access:
- Both employees and current students can access OneDrive online via onedrive.com or through the MyHancock Portal. This method is particularly convenient for current students and staff who prefer to access their files from various locations or devices.

Usage Across Different Groups:
- While employees and faculty predominantly use the desktop application on AHC managed devices, current students are more inclined to use onedrive.com. However, students also have the option to interact with the desktop application on both AHC managed and personal devices, should they choose to install it.
